Athletics
The Athletics disciplines of Track, Field and Marathon are planned to be a major part of 2018 Commonwealth Games in Hambantota. Track and Field medals will be up for grabs at a purpose-designed track within the Hambantota Sports Hub, where spectators will be spell-bound by athletes’ amazing pace, endurance or sheer physical strength. The 100 metre final events will see some of the fastest men and women on the planet pursuing gold or that ever elusive world record.

Sri Lanka looks to Hambantota for CWG bid boost
Haiyang, China: The 3rd Asian Beach Games in Haiyang, China, in June 2012 are not the only beach games on the mind of R.A.K. Jeewantha, Executive Committee member of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka. Much closer to home, and much sooner in the diary, are the 1st South Asian Beach Games, to be hosted by Sri Lanka at Hambantota from October 8-14.

Hambantota 2018 Commonwealth Games : Impressions of a foreign friend
With regard to Hambantota 2018 legacy plan, considering all what has been carried out so far and what will certainly be done in the months ahead, we selected seven letters to summarize implication and motivation of Sri Lankan authorities and Hambantota 2018 bid committee. Those seven letters are P.R.A.C.H.A.L. seven letters like the seven years ahead the d date. Those letters, according to us, represent Hambantota 2018 legacy plan and Sri Lankans’ motivation to host 2018 Commonwealth Games.
