Sri Lanka is in the process of developing a sports hub and all sports lovers in the country and the world at large will appreciate the efforts of such an move. This development is coinside with the building of 2nd city of Sri Lanka- Hambantota.

We have 52 practicing sports disciplines and all of them have the international competitions spreading 365 days of the year. One of our aim is to invite all sports event organizers in the world to select Hambantota in the future for such an events. We strongly believe that your currency will have a value for money proposition in this rapid developing nation and the final beneficiary will be you in this so called recession period.

Hambantota regional sports hub and Enterprise Park will pave the way to attract all international sports bodies to hold respective competitions while enjoying the tourist attractions in this beautiful greeny Island.

We are confident that Commonwealth Games Federation and its officials will endorse our candidacy and Sri Lanka will host most memorable green commonwealth Games in 2018 at Hambantota.

The Games City masterplan proposals fit with the District’s long term development plans, and ambition for Hambantota to become an economic hub, one of five metro cities in Sri Lanka and a new venue for world sport. The masterplan will be integral to delivery of the Ministry of Sports new seven-year Strategic Plan. All planned venues will be ready by 2016 for the South Asian Games and will also provide world class venues for use by CGAs as part of the Athlete Training and Development Support Programme.
