Shooting events combine an intense level of focus and concentration, skill and nerve, and the four disciplines each have their own appeal and challenge. It is expected that the nations will be enthusiastically participating in it.
Clay Target
In Clay Target, athletes shoot at moving targets, flying off in different directions. A puff of dust or powder from the clay indicates a direct hit and confirms an athlete’s score in each round.
Full Bore
A test of patience and skill faces athletes contesting the Full Bore discipline, where shooters shoot targets across a range of distances in what is a unique shooting event exclusive to the Commonwealth Games.
Pistol and Small Bore
In Pistol Shooting and Small Bore Rifle, athletes shoot immobile targets across distances. These require patience, concentration and control to make sure that a high scoring hit is achieved on target.

Large crowds gathered at the local media campaign launch
A large number of people participated in the inauguration ceremony of the local media campaign to promote Hambantota 2018 Commonwealth Games bid, held on Sunday 26th of June 2011 at the Galle Face Green. The event made it evident that so many Sri Lankans took a keen interest in this historic bid and strongly backed it.

With regard to Hambantota 2018 legacy plan, considering all what has been carried out so far and what will certainly be done in the months ahead, we selected seven letters to summarize implication and motivation of Sri Lankan authorities and Hambantota 2018 bid committee. Those seven letters are P.R.A.C.H.A.L. seven letters like the seven years ahead the d date. Those letters, according to us, represent Hambantota 2018 legacy plan and Sri Lankans’ motivation to host 2018 Commonwealth Games.
